Time To Be Creative

“Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can’t get there by bus, only by hard work, risking, and by not quite knowing what you’re doing. What you’ll discover will be wonderful: yourself.” –Alan Alda

I found this quote today, quite by accident (as most good things in life happen to me) on blog called From the Heart. I was looking for Zentangle® patterns and I found a lovely one she had drawn and posted on her blog. But the quote she had on the sidebar, just jumped up and slapped my face.

Go into the wilderness of your intuition… wow… I have struggled with letting go of the familiar and embracing change. It is a struggle I lose more often than not, but I KNOW I have to do this. Children move out, jobs change, relationships end and begin.

Sometimes you procrastinate and drag your feet, not listening to the voice inside you telling you to move on, or to pursue that crazy idea. Where those missed opportunities that I didn’t take because I was comfortable, and scared of change?

Risk taking is something I still have to work harder on. It is so much more difficult the older I get, but I will have to force myself to overcome this fear and listen to that inner voice…. Time to be creative!

I have discovered the art of doodling for relaxation. Just look up Zentangle® anyone can do it! It's almost as much fun as getting the "big" box of crayons!
